New local Competition Programme in Tayside – Zoom Meeting – Monday 23rd November 7pm

District Competition Programme

Tayside District in partnership with Tennis Scotland have appointed a new role (District Competition Coordinator) to help activate more local competition opportunities (both individual and team) for junior players. The plans are to roll out a new competition programme in 2021 which will be made up of Grade 6 individual events under the “Tayside District Tour” name as well as a number of Club Team Days across a number of age groups.

We would like you to attend a Zoom call to hear about this new programme and how you can support and be involved.

The aim is to provide the Tayside tennis community with local opportunities to engage in competitive tennis through a series of matchplay events delivered in partnership with Tayside tennis clubs/venues and coordinated by the Tayside District Tour Coordinator. This is a network approach which requires us working together as a District to facilitate fun, safe, local competition provision. Training and support will also be available through the Tennis Scotland competitions team. We look forward to building tennis back up post Covid (or within guidelines).

In addition to the refined singles and doubles matchplay offer, a new ‘team day‘ format will be launching for juniors to participate in. This is an exciting new social competition where juniors can play as part of a team representing their club. All events will be organised by the Tayside District Tour Coordinator. There will be up to 10 events across the year; each lasting a few hours for a set age group (e.g. Mini Red).

Tennis Scotland along with Jack Ganley (District Competition Coordinator) will be hosting an online meeting to discuss the above in more detail. We would be really keen for you or another club representative to attend this meeting to hear about the plans and how you can be involved. Ann Hill (Tayside President) will also be joining the call to welcome everyone.
